June 1st - the beginning of summer or the end of spring?
June 1st. For some, it's the first day of summer, for others — the last month of spring? Calendar spring ends on May 31st. Astronomical — on the day of the summer solstice (June 21st). Phenological (natural) — when lilacs bloom. So what is June 1st? Let's figure it out without delving into philosophy. Strawberries ripen by the end of June. Therefore, June 1st is still blooming with black currant, golden acacia, and meadowsweet. This is a transitional period. It's not hot yet, but it's not cold. Days are long. The real summer (heat, swimming) begins after June 20th. But we still call June summer. Because we want to. Folklore "With the arrival of June, spit for fishing" (fish go deep). "June warmth is better than a fur coat." "June is the color of roses, the end of spring." According to folklore, if i ... Read more
