Molva — ha parvus piscis familiae Clupeidae, saepe inopinatim de spectu abscinditur. In hiscissu iacent ad salmone et sardine, parvum pretium habet, sed in suo bonitate pluribus carnis carissimis competit. In terris Scandicis "aurea piscis pauperum" nominatur, in Iaponia ad fabricandas carissimas additamenta utuntur. Disquireamus, quid sit ita bonus haec modesta incolatrix maris septentrionalis. Quis est molva Molva (Mallotus villosus) — parva turbae piscis, longitudine 15-20 cm, in aquis frigidis Atlantico et Mare Frigidum boreale, et in parte septentrionali Mare Pacificum incolit. Praecipuae regiones piscaturae — Norvegia, Islandia, Russia (Mare Barentianum), Canada. Molva est unum ex elementis principalibus catenae cibariae marinae: illa a trutae, saica, phoca, cetis, avibus marinis comeduntur. Homo quoque molvam laudatur. Saepe in hieme et primavera, cum ad litus advenit pro oviparatione, pescatur. Caro molvae est delicata, roseo-caerulea, cum odoribus frescorum cucumbarum (sicut in clupea). In cibus ad usum venit in forma cocta, confecta, sicca, et ad fabricandum pulvolum piscarium et lavorem. Mirabilis constitutio et calorificitas Molva est vere concentratum bonitatis. In 100 grammis fresci fish continet: albuminum — 13-15 g, lavorem — 7-12 g (ad dependens a seasone et loco venationis), carbohydrata — 0 g. Calorificitas — 120-180 kcal, quod eam dieteticum productum facit (in forma cocta calorificitas augmentatur propter lavorem). Molva est campion in contentione acidi oleici omega-3 (eicosapentaenoici et docosahexaenoici) — usque ad 2,5 g in 100 grammis. Hoc est magis quam in salmone! Etiam abundat in vitamine D (15 mcg — 150% a norma diei), vitamine B12 (3 mcg — 100%), selene (40 mcg — 70%), fosforo (250 mg — 30%), iodine (50 mcg — 35%).
